Just finished 'Long Way Down' by Nick Hornby. If you want to read a really good Nick Hornby book, get yourself anything written by Douglas Coupland. Hornby is like Coupland without the wit or the vocabulary.
I suppose I should give him another chance. It's just that the character that I thought was most interesting in 'Long Way Down' (Maureen) didn't seem to have much of a part. Her observations were the only ones that seemed in any way thoughtful, or even witty in any way. Or maybe I'm missing the point. Either way, 'Long Way Down' isn't a great resume; it didn't make me want to get more Nick Hornby.
I think I will reread some Coupland, though...
